
Niels Harild
Former Manager, Global Program on Forced Displacement, The World Bank Group.
Niels Harild is a Danish economist with over 40 years of experience in humanitarian and development work at institutions such as UNHCR and the World Bank where he created and managed the Global Program on Forced Displacement (GPFD) until he retired in September 2015.
Niels is a passionate advocate for development approaches to aid, a project he currently steers at the New Aid Model. He is a partner at Nordic Consulting Group A/S and was previously the head of secretariat at Solutions Alliance. Between 2005 – 2009, he managed the World Bank’s Multi Donor Trust Funds. He has previously served with UNHCR in various roles in Uganda, Geneva, Thailand and Malaysia such as Assistant Representative in Thailand as well as Chief, Reintegration and Local Settlements Section in Geneva.
