Dr Margaret Monyani

Dr Margaret Monyani is a policy researcher and strategist working at the intersection of gender, migration, and security in Africa. With over a decade of experience across academic, civil society, and think-tank spaces, she has led research and policy engagement initiatives focused on mobility governance, regional cooperation, and rights-based approaches to migration. Her work bridges rigorous evidence generation with high-level advocacy, engaging stakeholders from grassroots CSOs to continental bodies such as the African Union and regional economic communities.

Margaret holds a PhD in International Relations from the university of witwatersrand and has authored publications on gendered mobility, migration governance, and regional integration. She has served as a speaker, moderator, and lead researcher in regional forums on migration and security. Her approach emphasises inclusive, context-specific, and evidence-informed solutions to complex mobility and governance challenges. Margaret currently collaborates with regional partners to strengthen civil society capacity, influence policy frameworks, and promote accountable, gender-responsive migration governance systems.
