Benjamin Ng'aru
Benjamin serves as the Snr. Regional Forced Migration Officer at the Centre covering Kenya, Uganda, Rwanda, Tanzania Ethiopia and the Sudans. He is passionate about real and meaningful refugee inclusion and undertakes consultancies in legislative & policy development as well as refugee law trainings to legal practitioners on the continent.
A legal practitioner by training, Benjamin has over 9 years’ experience in the field of Forced Migration and International Refugee Law having served in several camp and urban based refuge refugee operations. He has previously worked with and consulted for UN agencies with deployments in operations such as South Africa, Angola, Eswatini, Zambia, Namibia, Botswana and Niger. He has extensive knowledge of and has previously served in various refugee emergency operations such as in the DRC Situation and the Libyan Situation.
He has received post graduate trainings in forced migration & refugee studies at the University of Oxford – Refugee Studies Centre, York University’s Centre for Refugee Studies in Toronto and the University of Cape Town. He has also previously studied at the University of Lucerne in Switzerland.
Occasionally, he volunteers as a moot court coach & mentor.
